Safety Expo to Feature Disaster Readiness Drills
The city’s Emergency Services Department will play host to a safety and disaster preparedness fair Sunday at the city Farmers Market, followed by a week of safety-oriented programs in Beverly Hills schools.
To instruct children in safety measures, the Emergency Preparedness and Safety Expo will show students what to do if an earthquake occurs while they are in school, as well as “Safe Moves,” a traffic safety obstacle course for young bicyclists and pedestrians, said Pamela Mottice, the city’s emergency services manager.
Representatives from the American Red Cross, Beverly Hills police and fire departments, Southern California Edison, the Southern California Earthquake Center, the nonprofit Western Insurance Information Service and other organizations will also present information.
The fair will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Beverly Hills Farmers Market, 200 North Canon Drive. Admission is free.
Mottice said that from Oct. 13-15, various city departments will talk to students at all five Beverly Hills campuses on topics ranging from the 911 system to vehicular safety.
