* Eugene B. Starzl; Longtime Resident
Ventura resident Eugene B. Starzl died Tuesday at his home after a long illness. He was 51.
Starzl was born Dec. 2, 1946, in Pasadena. Starzl’s family moved to Ventura County in 1949.
Starzl attended El Rio Elementary School and was a 1964 graduate of Oxnard High School.
Starzl worked as a foreman at a Ventura County lemon company for several years. He enjoyed surfing, motorcycle riding and photography. He also had a private pilot’s license.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Barthol Starzl, and his stepfather, Harold Lloyd DeMoss.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Starzl of Ventura; four sons, Robert Eugene Starzl of New York City and Andrew Lloyd Starzl, Jeffrey Eugene Starzl and Armando Ramos, all of Ventura; his mother, Nadine DeMoss of Oxnard; two brothers, Ronald Eugene Starzl of Oxnard and David Martin DeMoss of Douglas City in Trinity County; and two sisters, Melody Jane Dates of Oxnard and Rebecca Ann DeMoss of Denver.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Santa Barbara or any office of the Sierra Club.
