Martial Arts Fest Will Benefit AIDS Group
More than 200 martial arts celebrities will be kicking and spinning Sunday at Dragonfest 1998, a benefit for a pediatric AIDS group.
The third annual event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel, 1500 S. Raymond Ave. More than 1,200 people are expected to attend martial arts master Gerald Okamura’s event, which raised $1,500 for the Los Angeles Pediatric AIDS Network last year.
Okamura has appeared in more than 75 films, including “Big Trouble in Little China” and “Blade.”
Other martial arts guests include stars from “The Power Rangers,” “Mortal Kombat,” “Xena: Warrior Princess,” “American Gladiators,” “Lethal Weapon 4,” “The Crow” and “Spawn.” They will be available for autographs and photographs.
Demonstrations will be offered every 20 minutes beginning at noon. Entertainment lasts until 4 p.m.
Admission is $5; children younger than 5 are free.
