Red Cross Volunteers to Aid Flood Victims

Two volunteers and their Red Cross emergency response vehicle left Orange County early Monday for a 30-hour drive to Louisiana to aid and feed flood victims.

Harry Daniels and James Griffin are headed to New Orleans to help those displaced by Tropical Storm Frances and bring cots, blankets, cleanup kits and mobile feeding facilities to shelters.

The Orange County contingent is just one of hundreds of such Red Cross vehicles from across the country headed to Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri to help flood victims.

“The same would happen here if we had a major disaster,” said Judy Iannaccone, spokeswoman for the Orange County Red Cross. “We would have these vehicles coming from all over the country to meet our needs.”
