Wally George Returns to Radio Oct. 18
Combative television talk-show host Wally George returns to the medium in which he began his broadcasting career 50 years ago with a two-hour weekly radio program for Anaheim-based KIK-FM (94.3) beginning Oct. 18.
“Wally George’s Great American Radio Special” also will be carried on KCEO-AM (1000) in Carlsbad, which is owned by KIK-FM owner Art Astor. It will air Sundays from 8 to 10 p.m. and will combine country music, George’s conservative commentaries and telephone calls to celebrities and political figures, George said Monday.
George, who continues in his 17th year as host of “Hot Seat” on Orange County’s KDOC-TV Channel 56, said he and Astor hope eventually to syndicate the new show. He launched a similar program on KIK-FM in 1994, but treatment for prostate cancer forced him to put that show aside after just a few weeks on the air.
“He was one of the first to do this kind of show, and he’s got quite a large following in Orange County, so we’re very excited about it,” KIK-FM program director Rick Shaw said.
