Urban, Lane Help Power Santa Ana Past Glendale

Joe Urban had a single, double and two-run homer as Santa Ana beat visiting Glendale, 7-0, in a Hardball Classic baseball game stopped after seven innings because of the mercy rule.

It was the 11th home run for the season and the second in two days for Urban, who took over the team lead from Richard Lane.

Lane had two doubles and two singles and drove in four for Santa Ana (20-11).

In other Hardball Classic games:

Fullerton 12, El Camino 4 (8, mercy)--Mike Caira and David Cosato each had three hits and two RBIs for Fullerton. Ernie Jaime, Eddie Romphrey and Bubba Bondurant each had two hits and an RBI for the Hornets (16-14).

In nonconference softball:

Cypress 1, Palomar 0--Freshman Sara Louwsma (7-1) threw a three-hitter for visiting Cypress (39-5).

Cypress was limited to one hit and scored their only run in the fifth when Heidi Lockwood walked and later scored on a delayed steal.
