Singapore will soon release ailing British securities trader Nick Leeson, 32, who was jailed for fraud and forgery in the 1995 collapse of Barings, Britain’s oldest merchant bank. Leeson, who is suffering from colon cancer, will be released July 3, nearly three years before the completion of his 6 1/2-year sentence, the South China Sunday Morning Post reported. In 1995, Leeson lost $1.38 billion speculating on Asian stock markets from his base in Singapore.
