Al Snook, a U.S. Air Force veteran and former Garden Grove mayoral candidate, is joining the Reform Party. Snook, a longtime Republican activist and local businessman, says he is leaving the GOP for a number of reasons, but primarily because of the Orange County Republican Party’s lack of support for his past mayoral campaigns. He is forming an exploratory committee to consider a campaign for the 68th Assembly District in 2000. Former Garden Grove City Councilman Ken Maddox, a Republican, currently holds that seat.
