The UCLA Hammer Museum of Art presents its third annual “L.A. Impacts” Festival, a daylong program that will highlight many of the cultural and artistic programs that serve families and children in Los Angeles. Events include musical performances by students from the L.A. County High School for the Arts, the Susie Hansen Latin Band, and interactive storytelling with Maria Elena Gaitan.

5:30 pm: Animals

It’s time for one of the rare chances to see rare cats at their most active as the Feline Conservation Center in Kern County holds its Fall Twilight Tour. The evening for adults only is a fund-raiser for the nonprofit Exotic Feline Breeding Compound, which is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of endangered felines. In addition to viewings of the big cats--including Siberian tigers--the evening will include a bake sale and raffle. Reservations are recommended.

7:30 pm: Pop Music

The Palladium’s show of Johnny Pacheco & the All-Stars is actually a momentous return to the West Coast for many musicians affiliated with salsa’s fabled Fania All-Stars. Among the 24 performers playing together on the West Coast for the first time in 30 years are Ismael Miranda, Bobby Valentin, Papo Lucca, Ismael Quintana and Pete Conde Rodriguez.

9 pm: Celebration

Ms. Ciccone won’t be there but that won’t stop fans from celebrating at Madonna’s Birthday Bash. The evening includes a Madonna look-alike/lipsynch competition that encourages fans to dress up and perform their favorite song by the Material Girl. The event will also feature a performance by the evening’s hostess, Viva Sex, a Madonna impersonator. As for M’s age? She turns 41 on Monday.

After succeeding with “The Abduction From the Sergalio” last summer, Lucinda Carver and her Los Angeles Mozart Orchestra essay the composer’s “The Magic Flute” at the Ford Amphitheatre. In the cast for this concert version are, among others, Camille King (Pamina), Rebecca Sherburn (Queen of the Night), Susan Mills (Papagena), Jonathan Mack (Tamino), Frank Curtis (Sarastro), Tod Fitzpatrick (Papageno) and Nicholas Larson (Monostatos). Local vocal group Zephyr is the chorus. The abridged dialogue will be in English, the singing in German.

“The Cheats of Scapin,” Moliere’s raucous farce about the wily scoundrel Scapin, friend to lovers and deceiver of miserly masters, marks Odyssey Theatre Ensemble and Circus Theatricals’ first co-production. Jack Stehlin, who heads the cast, will also direct.
