Common Sense Tonight at Galaxy

Orange County band Common Sense headlines a local-rock bill tonight at the Galaxy just as its latest album, “State of the Nation, Now and Then,” hits stores. Reviewing for The Times, Mike Boehm says that pop-reggae “can’t be done much better than this. . . . The band may be able to prosper outside the [major-label] system if all the folks who bought Ziggy Marley, UB40 and Big Mountain CDs earlier in the 1990s haven’t renounced pop-reggae, but are simply waiting for a catchy, well-played example of it to come along.”

* Galaxy Concert Theatre, 3503 S. Harbor Blvd., Santa Ana. 8 tonight. With Ten Mile Tongue and the Fabulous Rudies. $15-$17. (714) 957-0600.
