Portraits of Jesus for New Millennium
Associated Press
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A national Catholic weekly is offering a $2,000 prize for the work of art that best represents Jesus at the start of the millennium.
The weekly, the National Catholic Reporter, said Jesus is the most popular subject in art history, but he “has been eclipsed in our secular, consumer culture.”
Entries in the form of slides are due by Oct. 18. Thirty to 50 of the best works will be featured in the publication’s Christmas issue.
