COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Fullerton Opens With Soccer Victory
Elias Ferrel scored twice, including the game-winner with five minutes remaining, giving Fullerton a 2-1 nonconference victory over Mt. San Antonio in a men’s nonconference community college soccer game Monday at Mt. San Antonio.
Hector Navarro assisted on the game-winning goal and Hornet goalie Orlando Palmer had 11 saves in the season-opener for both teams.
In another men’s soccer game:
Cerritos 1, Orange Coast 0--Alex Araneda scored from 16 yards out early in the second half in a nonconference season-opener for both teams at Orange Coast College.
Carlos Loza had 10 saves for the Pirates.
In women’s golf:
Mt. San Antonio 333, Orange Coast 346--Jennifer Tunzi shot 14-over-par 85 and Jenna Quaranta shot 86, but the Pirates fell short in a nonconference match at Skylinks in Long Beach.
Rosalyn Chung of Mt. San Antonio was the medalist with a 79.
