The hunt continued Friday for a city official charged with molesting a 15-year-old boy he was mentoring.

Police say they haven’t heard from Glenn Valenzuela, Pittsburg’s assistant city manager, since they spoke to him Monday night. Neither have friends or relatives questioned by officers.

So where is he?

“Haven’t a clue,” police spokesman Lt. William Zbacnik said Friday.

Valenzuela, 50, allegedly showered the boy with gifts, gave him alcohol and had sex with him, prosecutors said. He was charged Wednesday with 10 felony counts of sexual molestation and five counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors.

Pittsburg police last spoke with Valenzuela on Monday night and expected him to turn himself in, Zbacnik said. But by Friday, police in the Northern California community hadn’t heard from Valenzuela or from any attorney representing him.

The 10 sex charges all involve the same boy, prosecutors said.

Charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor involve the alleged molestation victim, as well as two other boys between ages 12 and 18, Zbacnik said.

Valenzuela allegedly met the 15-year-old when he volunteered in June to be a mentor in a program for troubled youth, Zbacnik said.

Valenzuela has worked for the city since 1998.
