Woman, 19, on Way to LAX Held in Theft
A 19-year-old woman was arrested Thursday for robbing another woman of cash and forcing her to buy a plane ticket to Arizona, authorities said.
Le Saundra Jenkins was taken into custody about 4:30 p.m. after police pulled over a taxi she was riding in near the Ventura and San Diego freeways in the San Fernando Valley, authorities said.
Two hours earlier, Jenkins approached Thousand Oaks resident Inge Kleiman, 69, outside a local department store and, using her fingers to simulate a gun in her jacket, threatened the older woman and ordered her to do what she was told, authorities said.
Kleiman drove to two banks, where she withdrew cash and gave it to Jenkins, authorities said. Kleiman was then forced to drive to a travel agency and buy Jenkins the plane ticket, according to reports.
Authorities said Jenkins is from Glendale, Ariz., and wanted the plane ticket to return home.
Jenkins caught a cab at a Thousand Oaks rental car agency that had refused to rent her a car, authorities said. At the time she was arrested, Jenkins was headed to Los Angeles International Airport, authorities said.
Kleiman was not injured.
