Sun Devils Have a Solid Trio

The Trojans open their Pacific 10 Conference schedule today against an 8-4 Arizona State team that presents a contrast in strengths: stars against depth.

The Sun Devils have three standouts in the lineup: Guard Eddie House leads the team with 21.2 points a game, forward Bobby Lazor averages 18.1 points and 9.3 rebounds, and forward Mike Batiste returns as one of the leading scorers from last season.

USC will counter with a rotation that goes nine to 10 players deep. Brian Scalabrine, Jeff Trepagnier, Elias Ayuso and Brandon Granville have been consistent starters.

“We’ve got to have contributions from all the guys when Pac-10 comes around,” Scalabrine said. “That’s our strength.”
