The economic recovery that has improved life for many Americans has largely left displaced homemakers and single mothers behind, according to a recent report issued by a women’s group.

The report finds that, despite women’s rising work force participation, the number of displaced homemakers in the United States is virtually unchanged since 1990.

The group, Women Work! The National Network for Women’s Employment, based its report on an analysis of 1997 Census Bureau data.
