More than 130 community members showed up Saturday at a bone marrow drive at Sierra Vista Elementary School in an effort find a match for Tyler Warren, 7, who has leukemia.

“If this was my child, I would hope that someone would do this for me,” said Kimberlee Frost, a parent who helped organize the drive with City of Hope Medical Center in Duarte. “The community came together and gave what they could.”

Sharif Masri, national marrow donor program supervisor at City of Hope, said that if a match is found for Tyler, the process that may lead to a bone marrow transplant would take two to three months. Test results from Saturday’s drive will be back today.
