Davis’ Knee Still Hurting

Baron Davis did not practice on the eve of the Pacific 10 Conference showdown with Stanford, continuing to be bothered by soreness in his left knee--at least a small red flag after 11 games back from reconstructive surgery.

Coach Steve Lavin said he expects Davis to be in the starting lineup tonight as usual. But the sophomore point guard conceded after limping through part of his 32 minutes Thursday against California that the joint was bothering him “a lot.”

“Just something for me to fight through,” he said. “I take that as a challenge.”

He is also bothered by a bruised right knee, after banging legs with another player.

“They’re just very sore,” Lavin said, “but I don’t think it’ll keep him out of action.”

Dan Gadzuric, again bothered by tendinitis in his knees, also sat out Friday’s practice but is expected to play tonight.
