Joni-Ani Postscript

In Ani DiFranco’s interview of Joni Mitchell (“Court and Spark,” Sept. 28), DiFranco made the following comment: “This seems ironic coming from a woman who, at a young age, made the difficult decision of adoption for her child when confronted with the choice between motherhood and career.”

Notwithstanding the emotional impact of this comment, it happens to be wrong. There are a number of infinitely more significant reasons for Joni to have made the difficult decision that she did.
