PLACENTIA
Increases to residential and commercial garbage rates went into effect Thursday, following the City Council’s approval of the new rates earlier this week.
City officials, who proposed a 36-cent increase in monthly residential rates, set the new rates at $14.71 a month for three trash bins--regular garbage, yard waste and recyclable materials. The three-container service disposal program, launched three years ago, costs more than a garbage service that does not collect recyclable materials separately, city officials said.
Commercial rates went up $1.24 to $96.34 a month for a 3-cubic-yard container, the most common size used by businesses.
