SEAL BEACH
Archeologists have found what could be a prehistoric settlement on the Bixby Ranch Towne Center project site. “We don’t know yet if there are any artifacts,” senior archeologist Andrew York said. So far, the archeologists have found shell and charcoal remains.
KEA Environmental Inc., the San Diego-based company reviewing the site, was recently involved in archeological planning for the Hellman Ranch project, near Seal Beach Boulevard. Research on that site revealed a prehistoric temporary settlement, and York did not rule out a link between the two sites. Officials, archeologists and Bixby representatives are planning to meet next week to discuss if this will impede the completion of the project.
