Suspects in Robbery Attempt Escape Police
Los Angeles police were looking for three men Thursday who escaped from a police station after being arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.
Gerardo Rodriguez, 24, Armando Macia, 37, and Rafael Salaverria, 43, were still at large after fleeing from the Rampart Division at 3rd Street and Union Avenue, LAPD spokesman Mike Partain said.
Gang officers brought the men into the station about 6 p.m. Wednesday, Partain said. But minutes later, despite being “handcuffed to a bench in what was believed to be a secure area, they somehow managed to escape,” he said.
The details of the escape are under investigation, Partain said. Anyone knowing their whereabouts is asked to call police.
