Auto Insurance and Lawsuits

Re “Bill Restoring Right to Sue Insurance Firms Fuels Heated Debate,” June 2.

It is difficult to understand why common sense cannot be used when creating legislation.

It wasn’t too long ago that everybody, including our elected officials, was complaining of the high cost of auto insurance--and rightly so! The state Supreme Court, using common sense, eliminated the so-called bad faith situation that did nothing but increase costs to an unacceptable level. This bill, Senate Bill 1237, would do nothing but help con artists and a lot of ambulance chasers make a lot of money. Should an insurance company not live up to its contract with me and demonstrate “good faith,” I have redress without SB 1237.

Where is the common sense? Please, somebody help me understand.
