LAGUNA NIGUEL
The city will hand out more than $40,000 in grants this year to nonprofit organizations providing community services and cultural arts opportunities. The City Council will provide $22,580 toward community service projects and $18,575 for cultural arts programs. Last year’s grants ranged from $700 to $4,000, city reports said. Funding requests will be reviewed by a City Council subcommittee, which will make recommendations to the council. Highest priority will be given to organizations providing direct service or benefit to a large number of city residents.
Grant applications are available at city offices and must be turned in by 5 p.m. Aug. 27 to City Hall, 27801 La Paz Road. Information: (949) 362-4300.
