New Orange Unified School District Supt. Barbara Van Otterloo will be introduced to residents tonight during a cake and punch reception at the school board meeting, which starts at 7:30 p.m. Van Otterloo, 55, signed a three-year contract with the district Monday for an annual salary of $151,000. Her official duties begin Aug. 16, but she will attend the July 31 grand opening of Running Springs Elementary School.
Van Otterloo is expected to move to a home in Yorba Linda from Michigan, where she retired recently as superintendent of the state’s 15th-largest school district. She is expected to speak at the gathering as well as introduce her husband, John, a CPA, and her two grown sons, who reside in Hermosa Beach. Tonight’s meeting is at district headquarters, 1401 N.
