Discussion on Dispersed Jews
Lionel Okun of the nonprofit group Kulanu will lead a discussion of the book “Jews in Places You Never Thought Of” from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in Costa Mesa.
The book, edited by Karen Primak, contains accounts of isolated Jewish communities all over the world. Some communities descended from Jews were stranded by history and others converted to the faith--like the Abayudaya tribe of Uganda, whose singing and music will be played as part of the presentation.
Kulanu, which means “all of us” in Hebrew, is a nonprofit organization of Jews of varied backgrounds and practices dedicated to finding lost and dispersed remnants of the Jewish people. It also assists those who wish to rejoin the Jewish community.
The benefit will be held at the Golden Dreidel, 1835 Newport Blvd., #A-111, Costa Mesa. Information: (562) 430-8668 or (949) 645-3923.
