Child, 3, Is Pulled Unconscious From Pool
A toddler was in critical condition after he was found on the bottom of an apartment swimming pool Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
The 3-year-old was unconscious when he was pulled from the pool about 1:50 p.m., Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Bob Collis said. It was not known how long the boy had been underwater.
“There were people around, but obviously they weren’t watching,” Collis said. “There were other kids and adults swimming in the pool. But that’s the problem--just being there isn’t enough. Supervision means eye contact, not just being there.”
The child was taken by ambulance from the apartment complex in the 7800 block of Woodman Avenue to Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles.
