Joaquin Rodrigo
The death on July 6 of composer Joaquin Rodrigo brings to an end more than just his life. Rodrigo was the last living composer to have a piece (his “Concierto de Aranjuez” for guitar and orchestra) in the true standard repertoire. The middle movement of “Concierto” is known even by those who think they know nothing of classical music.
