Fund-Raiser Planned for Children of Kosovo

A pokemon tournament complete with child celebrities to raise funds for Kosovo children will be held Saturday at the Collectors Guide to the Galaxy in the Fallbrook Mall.

The fund-raiser, developed by the Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund, will help Kosovo children who have been displaced, said Linda Finnegan, executive director of the fund.

Pokemon event--The starting time for Saturday’s charity Pokemon tournament at Fallbrook Mall was incorrect in a story Wednesday. The event begins at 10:30 a.m.

The tournament, scheduled from noon to 5 p.m., will be open to the public at a cost of $25 per child.

Finnegan said Albanian refugees have already received basic medical attention and shelter but that she and her organization plan to provide emotional support.

“We want to provide the emotional support these children need. Give them something the children can hold on to,” Finnegan said.

Participants may play against 40 child celebrities, such as Seth Atkins, from the television show “Sabrina the Teenage Witch.”

The card game is based on a popular animated Japanese cartoon series. Prizes will include a $200 gift certificate to the Collectors Guide to the Galaxy store and a Six Flags family pack for four.
