* “The Beauty Queen of Leenane,” Martin McDonagh’s play about a mother and daughter living in Ireland featuring Laurie Metcalf and Christopher Fizgerald (through Aug. 8), is running at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company through Aug. 30. $35 to $39. 1650 N. Halsted St. (312) 335-1650.

* The Chicago Jazz Festival, which attracts 300,000 people to stages along the lakefront, will be Sept. 2-5 at Grant Park, at Jackson Boulevard and Columbus Drive. Headliners include the Danilo Perez trio and the Asian American Jazz Orchestra. A pre-festival Jazz Club Tour on Sept. 1 visits many of Chicago’s legendary jazz clubs. (312) 427-1676.
