Supermodel Cindy Crawford and her husband, businessman Rande Gerber, have purchased a Malibu home, which they plan to remodel, for just under $5 million.

The couple has other homes in Malibu and Brentwood. At the Brentwood house, Crawford gave birth to a son, Presley Walker, on July 2. Crawford and Gerber were married in May 1998.

Crawford, 33, has spokesmodel deals with Ellen Tracy, Revlon and Omega watches. She also has a three-year contract for specials and guest spots on ABC. In a video diary of her pregnancy, she appeared with Diane Sawyer on “Good Morning America” starting in March.

Gerber, 37, owns the hip L.A. watering hole SkyBar in the Mondrian Hotel and the hot nightspots Whiskey Bar and Whiskey Park in New York City.

The 6,000-square-foot, waterfront home they just purchased has seven bedrooms plus a guest house and private beach access. The traditional-style home, on slightly more than an acre, was built in 1984.

Las Vegas entrepreneur Steve Wynn has purchased a penthouse suite near his Bellagio resort for about $4 million. The suite is at Park Towers at Hughes Center, which he also has joined as a design and development partner.

Wynn, 57, chairman of Mirage Resorts, bought the 6,200-square-foot penthouse as a “satellite home,” a source said, for himself and his wife, Elaine.

The couple plans to maintain their north Las Vegas estate, Shadow Creek, as their primary residence and will use the penthouse for private gatherings. It was set up to have four bedrooms, but the Wynns are bringing in designers who may reconfigure the space.

Construction on the 84-unit high-rise is underway, and move-ins are scheduled for 2000. The two 20-story towers will have spas with steam showers, saunas and massages; a fitness and aerobics center; a wine cellar; a screening room; a conference center; and concierge services.

KCAL sportscaster Alan Massengale, who anchors sports reports throughout the station’s Prime 9 News as well as its nightly “Final Quarter” report, and his wife, Nicollette, have bought an English-style Cheviot Hills house in the mid-$500,000 range. He also owns a home in Tennessee.

Massengale, 41, came to L.A. in 1990 as a sportscaster for the cable network Prime Ticket, which became Fox Sports Net. He was one of the first anchors of Fox sports news.

The newlyweds, married in December, are remodeling the 3,200-square-foot house, which they plan to occupy in August. Carlos de Sousa of Nourmand & Associates, Beverly Hills, represented the Massengales.
