In an effort to ease the traffic woes of Orange County’s most congested intersection, the city’s Public Works Department will begin work July 26 to widen the intersection of Westminster Avenue and Brookhurst Street. Travelers are advised to take alternate routes to avoid the additional traffic anticipated during construction. An average of 80,000 vehicles pass through the intersection each day.

The $648,000 road-widening project includes the addition of two right-turn lanes, extra left-turn lanes and bus turnouts. The project is funded by Measure M funds, the half-cent sales tax approved by county voters in 1990. Construction will be from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Businesses in the area will be open during construction. Information: (714) 741-5181.
