Former Massachusetts Atty. Gen. Scott Harshbarger, who lost a race for governor last fall, was named the president of Common Cause, a citizens lobby group, Friday. He succeeds Ann McBride, who left in May.

“I’ve spent my life in public service believing that our values are articulated in our public policies, so I’m tremendously grateful for this opportunity to help shape America’s public interest agenda for the 21st century,” Harshbarger said.
