** The Moffatts, “Chapter I: A New Beginning,” Capitol. They handle their own instruments and songwriting, but these 15-year-old Canadian triplets and their 16-year-old sibling offer plenty of Backstreet-esque romantic balladry along with their jangling, Hanson-style pop and Nirvana-lite rock. Although the songs’ heartfelt sentiments often reflect the Moffatts’ earlier country-pop roots, they’re so glossed up by producer Glen Ballard (Alanis Morissette) and others that they lose much potential charm. The group performs at the Roxy tonight.
