Their role is only an advisory one, but the resident planning committee overseeing the Town Centre development views its role as critical. The proposed 253,000-square-foot development is slated for El Toro Road west of Moulton Parkway and would include a 140-room hotel, office and retail space, and a restaurant. The resident planning committee is currently reviewing the proposed site plan, a zone-change request, and drainage, traffic and parking concerns before the City Council addresses the project at its June 23 meeting. “We know the area and the people who live here,” said chairwoman Jackie Carey. “We know what the common people want.” The group’s recommendations will be submitted to the council for review. The panel will meet at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Leisure World administration building, 23522 Paseo de Valencia.
