Auto Allowances
Re “Supervisors Criticized for Favoring Raise,” June 16.
I was totally misrepresented in this article, which indicated that I needed a car allowance and mileage to pay for my Mercedes coupe. This is totally false.
First, I didn’t say I needed the money. Second, I do not own a Mercedes.
There has been much discussion about car allowance and mileage expenses for the Board of Supervisors. I did say and it was not reported that I asked for a no-cost internal study to determine if it would be cost-effective to the taxpayers if board members received a county car and no mileage allowance. That study will be done in the next week and at that time I will make my decision based on the best interest of the taxpayer.
