DIVISION FINAL

2 p.m. at Birmingham High

Monroe (13-5-1) vs. Belmont (12-3-6)

* Top Players: Monroe, seeded fifth, gets most of its goals from senior forwards Liz Nemeth, who has 20, and Zulema Mejicano, who has 15. Jordana Cail, a junior, has stepped in at central midfielder after former standout Heidi Lopez left Monroe early in the season for personal reasons. Belmont, seeded third, relies on forwards Blana Gaspar (13 goals) and Lesly Villeda (nine goals) and center midfielder Ixzchel Salgado (10 goals and 15 assists).

* Fast Facts: Monroe is making its first title-game appearance since winning the 1995 3-A Division final. Belmont, a doormat five years ago, is playing in its first final.

CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

4 p.m. at Birmingham High

Chatsworth (23-2-1) vs. San Pedro (13-6-1)

* Top Players: Jackie Fodor, the City girls’ player of the year last season, leads top-seeded Chatsworth with 35 goals and 21 assists. Midfielders Jenna Fodor, Shannon DeVos and Leila Pate have combined for 57 goals, and the defense of Darcy Wooten, Megan Landress, Tonya Schmidt and Erica Frechman has helped the Chancellors outscore opponents, 113-23. Second-seeded San Pedro, a Coast/Valley League rival that lost twice to Chatsworth by a combined six-goal margin, relies on forward Katherine Bjezvich.

* Fast Facts: Chatsworth midfielder Tricia Arosemena is academically ineligible and midfielder Katie Klain will also likely miss the game because of an ankle injury. Chatsworth, 203-19-5 in its 11-year history, defeated San Pedro, 3-1, in last year’s title game and is looking to win its ninth section title and fourth in a row.

City Section Boys

CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

6 p.m. at Birmingham High

El Camino Real (20-4-2) vs. Locke (13-2-5)

* Top Players: Forward Jose Rivera-Otero leads third-seeded El Camino Real with 15 goals and 12 assists, Yan Falkinstein has 10 goals and Tony Sangari and Jimmy Choto have seven each. Goalkeeper Karl Mayr went from liability to savior in a semifinal victory over Reseda.

* Fast Facts: El Camino Real, which six seasons ago did not field a team because it lacked a coach, is 79-39-19 under Coach David Hussey and is playing in its second final in three years. Locke, seeded 13th, has three consecutive upsets, including a semifinal defeat of top-seeded Banning.

Southern Section Girls

DIVISION II FINAL

4 p.m. at La Mirada High

Hart (21-5-3) vs. Irvine Woodbridge (18-2-7)

* Top Players: As goes midfielder Erin Misaki, so goes ninth-seeded Hart, which has gotten 24 goals and 22 assists from the region’s best girls’ player. Hart forward Mandy Mansfield has 20 goals and wing Ali Pavoni has 13 goals and 13 assists. Cassondra Kaeding has started at goalkeeper for the last month. Top-seeded Woodbridge, making its first final appearance, counts on leading scorer Sierra Cristiano, a forward with 20 goals, and sweeper Nichole Swanson. The Warriors will be without several key players because of injuries.

* Fast Facts: Hart is making its second final appearance in three seasons, having lost to Los Alamitos in the 1997 Division I title game. Woodbridge, which ended a string of six consecutive Sea View League titles by Santa Margarita, never advanced beyond the quarterfinals before this season.

DIVISION IV FINAL

2 p.m. at Cerritos Gahr High

Chaminade (22-4-2) vs. Torrance Bishop Montgomery (24-3-2)

* Top Players: Third-seeded Chaminade’s key is forward Kim Taylor, who has 11 goals and 14 assists despite missing much of the season because of injuries. Jennifer Valentine (19 goals) and Amy Watts (nine goals and 20 assists) are the central midfielders. Forward Kelly Lavery has 11 goals and goalkeeper Sara Leibowitz has had to make only 78 saves in 20 shutouts. Fifth-seeded Bishop Montgomery’s strength is its three-player defense, comprised of sweeper Maggie Kirchhoff and outside backs Kristen Konopka and Erin Loether.

* Fast Fact: Chaminade has won the last two Division III titles. Bishop Montgomery, which upset top-seeded Harvard-Westlake in a semifinal, has won the last two Del Rey League titles and was 10-0 in league play this season.

* For Southern Section games, $8 general admission and $3 for children under 12. Tickets good for all 10 games played Saturday--five at Cerritos Gahr and five at La Mirada.
