Santa Ana Wins 7 Events in Men’s Track Meet

Santa Ana won seven events and finished with 140 points to win an Orange Empire Conference men’s track and field tri-meet against Orange Coast and Cuyamaca Friday at Santa Ana College. Orange Coast had 117 points and Cuyamaca 101.

Shelton Davis won the 400 meters in 49.3 seconds and Damian Roberts won the 110 hurdles in 15.0 seconds for the Dons.

In another conference meet:

Riverside 153, Golden West 122, San Diego Mesa 58--C.J. Jones won the triple jump for Golden West, with a mark of 46 feet 1/2 inch. Matt Davis won the high jump (6-8) for the Rustlers.

In Orange Empire Conference women’s track and field:

Orange Coast 130, Santa Ana 125, Cuyamaca 97--Carol Parra won the 100 in 12.9 seconds and Francisca Flores won the 400 in 1:00.2 for Santa Ana, which had 10 first-place finishers. Orange Coast won five events.

San Diego Mesa 118, Golden West 113 1/2, Riverside 107 1/2--Tofi Togagae won the shotput (41-5) and discus (132-1) for Golden West (5-1). Beckie Sweatman took first in the 1,500 meters (5:21.12) and 3,000 meters (11:36.3) for the Rustlers.

In Orange Empire Conference men’s volleyball:

Long Beach 3, Orange Coast 1--Alex Cervantes had 20 kills and Justin Oleole had 68 assists for Long Beach (5-1, 4-1), which won, 15-11, 9-15, 15-12, 15-11. Orange Coast is 7-1, 5-1.
