Technology at the city’s Police Department is so outdated it will cost $1.1 million to keep data flowing past 1999, said Interim Police Chief Andy Romero. “The need cannot be overstated,” he said. “We can no longer delay.”
In response, City Council members agreed by a 4-0 vote last week to spend the funds to upgrade the department’s technology. Councilman Mark Murphy abstained from voting because of a potential conflict of interest.
