Bookstore comedy buffs beware!

For the past three years, comic Robin Roberts and her “Comedy by the Book” stand-up showcase have been Wednesday night fixtures at the Book Grinders Bookstore in Van Nuys. But no more. Roberts has renamed her show and taken it to a larger venue.

“Comedy Schmomedy” will premiere at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lankershim Arts Center, 5108 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood, with comic Jeff Altman heading a lineup that includes David Feldman, Carl Wolfson and Cathryn Michon. $8 admission. (818) 973-3169.

Megan Edwards, author of “Roads From the Ashes: An Odyssey in Real Life on the Virtual Frontier,” will be at Borders Books and Music, 9301 Tampa Ave., Northridge, at 2 p.m. Sunday. After her home was destroyed by wildfire in 1993, Edwards began a five-year journey across the highways of America in a custom-built motor home, which she named the Phoenix One. Her book chronicles the trek. The Phoenix One will be parked outside the store. Leslie Kallen will discuss “How to Write the New American Screenplay and Get an Agent to Sell It for You” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. David Harder will sign and discuss his book, “The Truth About Work: Making a Life, Not a Living,” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. (818) 886-5443.
