Bowden Gets Winning Hit for Mustangs

Senior Eric Bowden singled to left in the bottom of the seventh inning to score Todd Gelatka and give Trabuco Hills a 4-3 victory over Pacifica in the first round of the Division III baseball playoffs Friday.

Bowden struck out 13 and gave up six hits.

Gelatka went three for four with three doubles, and senior Brian Murphy went three for three with two RBIs for the Mustangs (19-6).

In other Division III games:

El Dorado 11, Magnolia 1 (5, mercy)--Drew McMillan and Brett Marro each had three RBIs and undefeated starter J.P. Frid struck out five in four innings to earn his eighth victory for host El Dorado (22-5).

Foothill 9, Lake Arrowhead Rim of the World 0--Mike Castillo (7-2) pitched a two-hitter, striking out eight and walking three for visiting Foothill (16-10).

La Habra 4, Tustin 0--Ramiro Godinez went two for three with two RBIs and Ryan Huff struck out three and walked one before giving way to Dave Zamorano, who pitched the seventh for his fifth save for host La Habra (20-6). Tustin finishes 16-10. The Highlanders play Culver City.

In Division IV:

Corona del Mar 8, Santa Fe Springs St. Paul 4--Matt Larson (6-5) struck out six and gave up one hit for host Corona del Mar (16-8). Mark Hatfield and Eric Wiethorn each hit two-run home runs for the Sea Kings.

Western 4, San Gabriel Gabrielino 0--Bryan Clark (8-2) struck out 12 and walked three in his first no-hitter of the season.

In Division V:

Calvary Chapel 13, La Canada Flintridge Prep 0 (5, mercy)--Senior second baseman Randy Blood went two for three with two RBIs for Calvary Chapel (24-1). The Eagles will play Rosemont.
