Orange Lutheran Advances on Edwards’ No-Hitter
Jessica Edwards pitched a no-hitter and struck out 16 as Orange Lutheran beat Pasadena Westridge, 5-1, in a second-round Southern Section Division V softball game Tuesday.
Edwards (13-4) surrendered her only run on a walk, two passed balls and a fielder’s choice. Laura Miklos had three hits and scored twice for Orange Lutheran.
In Thursday’s quarterfinal, the Lancers (25-5) will play Cerritos Whitney, a 9-1 winner over Downey Calvary Chapel.
Also in Division V:
Calvary Chapel 5, Lancaster Paraclete 3 (9)--Amanda Hallaway hit a two-run, game-winning single in the top of the ninth for Calvary Chapel (14-6). The Eagles will play Thousand Oaks La Reina, a 15-3 winner over Mojave.
In Division IV:
Rosary 10, Industry Workman 1--Christa Arriaga had three hits, two RBIs, a steal and a run for fourth-seeded Rosary (22-8). Rosary will play North Hollywood Harvard Westlake, which beat Lompoc, 1-0.
In Division VI:
Capistrano Valley Christian 6, Riverside Christian 3--Sophomore Lindsay Fait hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning for Capistrano Valley Christian (17-6). Lauren Capriotti (16-6) struck out 12 for the Crusaders, who play No. 2 Temecula Linfield, a 4-2 winner over Fontana Ambassador Christian.
Liberty Christian 7, L.A. Lutheran 6--Katie Linke’s single drove in junior Brianna Barton from second in the bottom of the seventh inning for Liberty Christian (21-2), which plays No. 3 Camarillo Cornerstone Christian, a 6-3 winner over Canoga Park Faith Baptist..
