Nudity Gets Teacher Stripped of Job
VANCOUVER, Canada — A Vancouver community college believed an instructor went too far when he persuaded his adult class to strip naked, although the students themselves apparently did not mind.
Langara College fired the instructor, a Swedish national who lives in Mexico, and canceled the class on shamanism after an official heard about the April incident in casual conversation, the Vancouver Sun reported Wednesday.
“The students were happy with the course and wanted it to continue . . . [although] they agreed that probably the method of delivery was not appropriate for a community college,” Langara spokeswoman Penny Noble said.
Removing the clothes was apparently intended to help the 23 students, many of them health care professionals, better understand energy patterns in the body.
The school said no students had complained and that the nudity did not lead to any inappropriate activity. “There was nothing unusual--except for them being nude,” Noble told the paper.
