LAKE FOREST
The Serrano Creek Conservancy officially started a project Thursday to repair the eroded and polluted Quiet Oak Creek, which feeds into the 10-mile-long Serrano Creek.
The restoration will include building new banks, creating structures to disperse falling water and adding plants to filter pollutants from the water, conservancy founder Matt Rayl said.
The conservancy plans to make similar repairs in Serrano Creek, which has been damaged by 10 years of heavy flooding and polluted by runoff from developments.
The City Council approved the project Tuesday.
