Village Christian 27, Pasadena Marshall 20--Jason Stauffer and Aaron Owen led a powerful rushing attack and the Crusaders won an Alpha League game on homecoming night at Kennedy High.
Stauffer rushed for 168 yards in 22 carries. Owen rushed 14 times for 88 yards, including a six-yard scoring run to break a 7-7 tie in the second quarter.
Village Christian (3-6, 1-2) amassed 292 yards rushing.
Marshall (0-9, 0-3) closed the gap to 27-20 late in the game when David Rodriguez recovered Marcel Branch’s fumble at the Village Christian 20.
Rodriguez caught a touchdown pass of 27 yards from Neil Gunn to give the Crusaders a 21-7 lead midway through the second quarter.
The Crusaders yielded zero yards passing and Jared Cappocchi had an interception.
Village Christian gave up 313 yards rushing.
