Even on off days, Coach Jim Benkert of Westlake can’t get enough football.
Benkert traveled to San Diego last Sunday to see the Chargers play the Denver Broncos, which has receiver Billy Miller, who played for Benkert at Westlake.
Miller had two catches for 36 yards for the Broncos, who won, 33-17.
“I hung out with him after the game a little bit,” Benkert said. “We took pictures and all that stuff.”

The specter of the Buena-Ventura game could create miracle cures, said Coach Phil McCune of Ventura.
Several of the Cougars have been nursing injuries, but McCune expects them all to be back for the game Thursday night against the Bulldogs. The game will decide the Channel League championship.
“I expect miraculous healings this week,” McCune said.
Center Louie Jimenez has been bothered by a sore ankle and guard Casey Andrews has been sidelined by a sore back.
Said McCune: “Most people, if they aren’t dead, get on the field this week.”
