Delta Orders More Boeing 737-800s
Delta Air Lines Inc., the third-largest U.S. carrier, said it will buy 18 more Boeing 737-800 aircraft to replace older, noisier Boeing 727s, an order that could be worth as much as $976.5 million. Including other recent purchases, Delta now has 125 of the 737s on order, Boeing said. Boeing said the faster, new-generation 737 will be more reliable, helping to avoid late arrivals. Shares of Atlanta-based Delta rose $1 to close at $48.44, Seattle-based Boeing rose 44 cents to $42.63, both on the New York Stock Exchange.
