Art Exhibit

Kudos to New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani for standing up against the blasphemous and obscene art exhibit, “Sensation” (Sept. 28). In this era of poll-driven politicians, it is refreshing that Giuliani showed true courage. No New York taxpayer money should be used to fund this garbage. Let the rich, liberal cultural elite fund this with private money.

Your Sept. 30 editorial, “Free Speech and Shock Art,” comes as no surprise; indeed, it was expected and I’m convinced your position would be consistent should the Torah, AIDS quilt or the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King be so desecrated. Or, would that be hate speech?
