Starting Tuesday, the city will begin its annual Playgrounds on the Go after-school program at five local playgrounds. The free drop-in program will provide a place for kids in first through sixth grades to go and participate in organized activities such as arts and crafts and athletics.

Parents who want their children to attend must fill out a permission slip in advance at any of the schools where the playgrounds are located or at the Community Services Department at City Hall. Since the program is not licensed to provide day care, participating children are free to come and go as they wish between the time school gets out and 4:30 p.m.
