Sotheby’s Beverly Hills Showroom to Preview N.Y. Art Auction Works
A preview exhibition of highlights from this fall’s New York art auctions will be held at Sotheby’s Beverly Hills showroom, 9665 Wilshire Blvd., on Oct. 14-15, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and 7-10 p.m.
Among big-ticket Impressionist and Modern paintings to be displayed are Claude Monet’s 1876 “In the Prairie,” depicting the artist’s wife in a field of flowers ($15 million to $20 million); Pablo Picasso’s 1925 figurative abstraction “The Statue” ($12 million to $18 million); and Amedeo Modigliani’s 1917 portrait “Nude Seated on a Couch” ($12 million to $18 million).
Contemporary works by Jasper Johns, Charles Ray and Andy Warhol also will be on view, along with 19th century American paintings, American Indian art and selections from the estate of Daniel and Eleanore Saidenberg, whose gallery in Chicago was Picasso’s American representative from 1955 until his death in 1973.
